Take Your Sleeping Position into Account

Your preferred sleeping position is crucial when selecting the ideal pillow. Back sleepers generally need a flatter pillow, sometimes a roll pillow is also a better option for back sleepers and is what Dr Derek uses. Side sleepers may require a firmer one to maintain spinal alignment while sleeping. Stomach sleepers, well we recommend you don't sleep on your stomach but if you have to, look for a thinner pillow to maintain proper neck and spine alignment.

    Explore Various Pillow Fills

Pillows come with different fill materials such as feathers, down, foam, and synthetic fibers, each offering varying levels of support, firmness, and durability. Assess your preferences and needs to choose the most suitable fill material.

The height, or loft, of a pillow can influence its ability to support your neck and spine. Pillows that are too high or low may lead to discomfort and pain. Find the right loft for your sleeping position and body type.

    Prioritize Hypoallergenic Options

For allergy sufferers, opt for pillows made from hypoallergenic materials that resist dust mites, mold, and mildew to minimize irritation and allergens.

    Consider Customizable Pillows

Customizable pillows with adjustable loft and firmness are excellent options for those still determining their ideal pillow height and support.

    Test the Pillow Before Buying

Always try out a pillow before making a purchase. Spend a few minutes lying down on the pillow to gauge its comfort and support levels.

Match the Pillow Size to Your Mattress

Ensure the pillow size corresponds to your mattress size. For instance, a king-sized pillow may be too large for a twin bed, while a standard pillow might appear small on a king-sized bed.

    Opt for Easy-to-Clean Pillows

Pillows can accumulate dirt, sweat, and other debris over time, making them unsanitary. Choose pillows with removable, washable covers or those that can be easily cleaned to maintain hygiene.

    Seek Temperature-Regulating Features

If you tend to sleep hot, opt for pillows designed with breathable materials that regulate temperature and prevent overheating or excessive sweating.

Pillows are available at various price points. While it's important to find a pillow that fits your needs, also consider your budget when making a decision.
